Shawn Malvern

Shawn Malvern earned his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® designation in August 2025 and has been helping clients navigate financial decisions since 2009. Known for his clear communication and focus on financial literacy, he has led numerous lunch & learns, and seminars to help people feel confident managing their money.

Shawn works closely with clients to create retirement and investment plans tailored to their goals. He specializes in equities and demonstrates how stocks and ETFs can strengthen well-diversified portfolios, particularly for clients who are retired or nearing retirement, as part of a holistic financial plan.

Shawn has chosen to work as an independent advisor and has been with WK Financial since 2016. Before becoming a financial advisor, he spent 21 years at the Stratford Festival, managing the Box Office, directing membership fundraising, and overseeing software implementations. His contributions were recognized with a Tom Award, named after Festival founder Tom Patterson.

A Stratford native, Shawn still resides here with his wife Leanne, and their daughters Alli and Faythe. He serves on the Rotary Club of Stratford board and the Downtown Stratford BIA, where he has also been Chair and Treasurer. He curls competitively at the Stratford Country Club and is a University of Ottawa graduate in politics and communications.
